I love these library lanterns made from vintage birdcages by Atlier 688. Light shines through the cage bars casting shadows on the walls and creating a unique atmosphere. Very cool.

Here is something that I really wish more companies would get into. Now for $8 you can snag up a bag of over 1.5 lbs (aprox. 75 pieces) of American Apparel’s scrap fabric for your own crafty DIY pleasures. I am scrap obsessed and would love to play around with some of the textiles used by clothing companies I like. I think this is a great way to reduce waste in clothing factories.
My mom works in the sewing room of Dimension Design, a company that makes large fabric tension displays. They amount of scrap that is thrown into the trash is unbelievable. My mom is always bringing home gigantic, wonderful, but slightly flawed, masses of fabric. We always seem to find ways to reuse and re-purpose them. Companies selling usable scrap from the production of their goods is a wonderfully simple thing they can do to help the environment and put a few more cents in their pocket. I love that the DIY movement is inspiring the big guys to try some new green ideas.

Etsy seller Monkey’s Always Look has the greatest selection of succulents. Best of all, I love the beautiful vintage and re-purposed objects she plants them in. My first experience in succulent ownership was less than stellar (my own mistakes) but I’m ready to try again! I would love have any one of her beautiful creations!

This one is made of poured and mirrored glass!

Love these studded ballet flats! I like the idea of adding a tough and edgy touch to something so sweet and feminine. You can find these at the lovely Bona Drag. But, shhh… I really think this is a good idea for an easy diy project! I’m going to start looking on Ebay for some cheap ballet slippers!

What I Saw Today is a fashion blog documenting fabulous men’s fashion on the streets of New York. Author Richard Haines is an extremely talented illustrator and has a great eye for design. I just love his sketches, they look so effortless. Makes me want to try on some menswear! Haha.

Richard sketches the Satorialist as the Satorialist sketches Richard. How cool. Fashion blog heaven.

Thanks to the lovely blog, decor8 I was introduced to the Etsy shop, nothing elegant. She sells the cutest stamps, deco tapes, stationery and desk accessories. I just couldn’t resist this awesome antique rubber stamp kit. I’ve been meaning to buy a alphabet stamp set for a while now and this one was just perfect. I think it was the cute wooden box that won me over in the end. I can’t wait to get stamping!

I’m fawning over these darling Tinkerbell Ballet Flats from Spirocreations. The best part is that they are 100% handmade. I love the ruffled edge, little wooden button and optional ballet lace-up. So cute.
